About “Attack on Titan”
Attack on Titan (進撃の巨人) is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Hajime Isayama. The series are set in a world where humanity lives inside cities surrounded by enormous walls as a defense against the Titans, gigantic humanoid creatures that eat humans seemingly without reason. The story initially centers on Eren Yeager, his adopted sister Mikasa Ackerman and childhood friend Armin Arlert, who joins the military to fight the Titans after their home town is invaded and Eren’s mother is eaten. However, as the story progresses and the truths about the Titans are slowly revealed to the reader, the narrative shifts to encompass Historia Reiss, squad leader Levi, and other supporting characters.
Attack on Titan has become a worldwide phenomenon. Since the manga series debuted six years ago, it has gone on to spawn a popular anime, two live-action movies, multiple spin-off series and even a few video games.
Expect the manga’s popularity to last up until the very end — which will be coming in about three years. That’s how long the manga will continue before the creators reach the end of the story, says Attack on Titan editor Kawakubo Shintaro in a new interview.
